Marshall McDougall is a former professional baseball player who primarily played as a second baseman. He was born on October 15, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida.
McDougall attended Florida State University, where he had a successful collegiate baseball career. He was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Player of the Year in 1999. He also set an NCAA record for hits in a game with 9 hits in a 26-2 victory over Maryland.
McDougall was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 26th round of the 1996 MLB Draft but did not sign. He was then drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 9th round of the 1999 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut with the team in 2005.
During his professional baseball career, McDougall also played in the minor league systems of the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Tampa Bay Rays. He also played in independent leagues before retiring from professional baseball.
McDougall currently serves as an assistant baseball coach at Florida State University, where he works with the hitters and infielders. He is known for his knowledgeable approach to the game and his ability to help develop young players.
